The ensemble of the Salzburger Kammersolisten was founded in 1972 following a suggestion by the former president of the Salzburg Music Festival and Mozart researcher Bernhard Paumgartner. The chamber music ensemble devoted itself to those works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart which he composed for the convivial entertainment of his close circle of friends.

Under the baton of Prof. Alois Aigner three generations of musicians have treasured and refined the ensemble’s versatile vocal and instrumental casts and distinguished themselves through numerous international concert appearances, broadcasts and recordings.

Their concert tours took them to almost all cities of musical interest throughout the world. The performing of one-act operas and Singspiele can be found among their successes as well as the continual representation of their Mozart City at official occasions of the Salzburg Government. Yet, the main focus of the ensemble remains its dedication to the works of W.A. Mozart.

From its very beginning the Salzburger Kammersolisten were directed by Prof. Alois Aigner, the former solo french horn player of the Mozarteum Orchestra and music pedagogue who perfected the ensemble´s work with a number of publications and his popular moderations about Mozart.

The members of the Salzburger Kammersolisten are former sons and daughters of the University of Music and Performing Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg now active as music pedagogues and performing artists. Besides their engagement with the Salzburger Kammersolisten they are associated with music institutions such as the Mozarteum Orchestra, Camerata Academica or many music stages all over Austria.
